Upcoming and Recent Gigs

Corona (Lee) Smith is busy with Shiznitz at the moment, preparing to record in the next week or so.

Jim has a poetry, storytelling and music event at Barton-on-Humber on Monday, April 27, and may be fiddling again for that one as his injured finger gets the once over at fracture clinic on Friday 24th. Mouthorgans are ready in reserve. It’s at Harrison’s restaurant in the Market Square at 8pm. Dez Allenby, songwriter/musician, Graham Langley, storyteller and Trevor Millum, poet are the other performers.

Update on Jim’s finger: Doc at fracture clinic says it’s progressing well but still needs splint though now it’s a smaller one and Jim has the go-ahead to play bottleneck style fiddle using the splint to fret the third finger notes.

Recent:

April 6 (Easter Bank Holiday Monday) There’s an egg-centred carnival type parade from Steve-the-masks-man’s studio in Princes Quay around the Hull Old Town area or thereabouts. Lee’s going and Jim may make it too, depending on family commitments.

April 8   Lincoln Drill Hall   Family Barn Dances &  children’s folk day. Jim & Lee are going along to do various bits for Liam Robinson’s informal event and Gerald the fiddle puppet will be taking a leading role in their contribution. Jim has injured a hand so this event will be a chance to sample  Two Straylarkers fiddle and mouthorgan line-up as he is temporarily invalided out of fiddling.  Lincoln Drill Hall is on Freeschool Lane – LN2 1EY and the programme runs from 11a.m. to 3.00p.m.

Upcoming:

July 5, Hooton Pagnell Village Fete and Street Fair. An all-day event from 10 am. Two Straylarkers and clog dancer Lynette Eldon will be performing at the concert area on the village street throughout the day and also providing walk-around impromptu spots around the site. Hooton Pagnell is near Doncaster.

Whitby Festival, August 22 to 28. Jim is a booked guest for the week. Corona Smith may make drop-in appearances to showcase Two Straylarkers on some of the concerts. More on that when we know.

November 12, Guildford Folk Club. Jim and Lynette Eldon.

November 13, 14, 15  Musical Traditions Festival Weekend in and around The King and Queen, Foley Street, London. Jim and Lynette Eldon, Kevin and Ellie Mitchell and Stuart Carolan are the featured guests.

Radio stuff :      Kathryn Tickell has started playing one or two of Jim’s tracks on her on-line show on amazingradio.com. She played Toilet Roll from Jim’s newly digitalized Golden Arrows album a week or two ago and is playing Haircuts from the same album tonight (April 20) and it will be revisitable for however long they leave stuff up. She’s got a couple of Straylarkers tracks uploaded to her too but hasn’t taken the bait on those yet.

Max Roberts, who does a local radio programme on two or three East Yorkshire    community radio stations and an online thing, has taken to the Straydance Outbreak EP and is playing a couple of tracks. The first was due to be played on or around Feb 16. His Folk Programme goes out on:      WHCR – 106.9FM (Mondays, 7-8),          Vixen – 101.8FM (Mondays, 8-9)     and   Beverley Community Radio – Tuesdays 7-8  which I think is an online broadcast.
